Radnor TAP trail easement recommended for approval

Radnor TAP trail easement recommended for approval
Members of the Radnor Township School Board facilities committee recommended full board approval to issue a letter saying that the board is in favor of granting an easement for a proposed portion of the trail that would run near Radnor High School, along Lancaster Avenue and King of Prussia Road. This dovetails with a move Monday night by the Board of Commissioners, which voted to seek a $250,000 grant for the design and engineering of the Radnor TAP Trail. This leg of the trail is expected to cost $1.9 million, with a $1 million grant from PennDOT and $750,000 in other state grants that the township is seeking. The trail, part of the Radnor Greenways Plan, will eventually begin in Wayne, run through Villanova and connect to Haverford. Peter Simone, of Simone Collins, the firm that is helping the township with the trails project, said that PennDOT and the federal government are poised to give Radnor $1.5 million in grants but the paperwork needs to be filed quickly. Simone believes that township officials will agree to the terms school district officials outlined.
